Before joining Yazzoom as partner in 2012, David Verstraeten attained a MSc in Applied Sciences and did academic research into AI/ML for 8 years, first during a PhD in Applied Computer Science and afterwards as post-doc in the Reservoir Lab (now IDLab) of Ghent University, managing PhD students and national and international research projects.

As engineering manager and technical director of Yazzoom, David is responsible for the management of its data science and software development engineers and helped build the company to its current team and reputation. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of AI and machine learning, both in an academic setting and in a real-world industrial projects.
