Carlo, 59, holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCLouvain in Belgium.

He joined Cockerill Sambre in 1988 in the Blast Furnaces’ Maintenance department, has worked as continuous improvement engineer until 1990, in the energy department (production and maintenance of a power plant, gas and electricity grid management) until 1995. From 1995 until 2002, he has worked in the meltshop division (BOF and EAF), as maintenance and projects manager prior to become head of maintenance of the Hot Strip Mill until 2006. Then, he has been appointed Head of Human Resources for the ArcelorMittal Stainless Châtelet plant.

He left the steel industry in 2009 to work in the lime sector, as plant manager and head of HSE and sustainability for the Carmeuse Group.

In 2017, he has been appointed head of Aperam Châtelet plant and in 2022, he became Chief Sustainability Officer of Aperam Group.

On June 1 st, 2023 Carlo Morettin was appointed Global Head of environment, decarbonization roadmap of Aperam Group and CEO of Recyco.
